Off Topic

Hey, may be you remember - a year ago you wrote about Hanimex f/6.3 400mm Tele. I've got the same Objective on Ebay, it came yesterday and I am really excited about the built quality, but I 0 knowledge what Adapter I have to use in order to connect it to my Canon 350d. Could you help with some advice, please?

Hello, welcome to my blog :)

The Hanimex objective lens i had was a T-mount (also called a T2 mount). The T-mount is a screw mount.

If your objective lens also has a T-mount, there are 2 ways you can do it:

1) look for a T-mount to EOS adapter. (an example is here)

2) Look for a T-mount to M42 adapter(like this here), and an M42 to EOS(and this).

I prefer the second way because some of the M42 to EOS adapters come with an electronic circuit to trick the camera into thinking there is a Canon lens mounted, and then you can use focus confirmation.

Without the electronics, it becomes very difficult to focus accurately (because the viewfinder does not have a split prism).

Focus confirmation is when you hold the shutter-release button down halfway. And if the object is in focus the red focus lights in the view finder will blink.

However, the adapters with focus confirmation is a bit expensive :(

Good luck, and let me know if everything works.
